Peskov says US–Chinese trade war to hurt global economic climate

MOSCOW, May 14 (PRIME) -- The trade war between the U.S. and China will have negative consequences for the world’s economic climate, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

“Of course, the trade war between the U.S. and China will take its toll on the general, global economic climate. And the consequences will be negative, not positive,” he said.

“At the same time, one should not exaggerate the consequences for our state. Our economy develops stably in terms on basic parameters. Not as rapidly as we want, but stably… Washington and Beijing may have their wars, this is not our war. Russia is interested in creating its own relationships with both China and the U.S.”

The U.S.–Chinese relations have worsened impetuously after China said it would raise tariffs on U.S. $60 billion of U.S. goods in retaliation for the President Donald Trump administration’s decision to increase duties on $200 billion worth of Chinese products earlier in May.
